Behavior Technician

Job Description

  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Follow and record data for prescribed training protocols.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Utilize safe & appropriate handling procedures when working with clients.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Assist Behavior Analysts, Lead Registered Behavior Technicians, Parent Support Specialists, Clinical Supervisors, and Behavior Support Specialists with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments.
  • Assist Behavior Analysts, Lead Registered Behavior Technicians, Parent Support Specialists, Clinical Supervisors, and Behavior Support Specialists in preparing client materials as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team including clients, parents, caregivers, outside professionals, Behavior Analysts, Lead Registered Behavior Technicians, Parent Support Specialists, Clinical Supervisors, and Behavior Support Specialists.
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required training.
  • Maintain professionalism in the presence of clients, their families, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
  • Ability to adhere to Inclusive Hearts policies and procedures and abide by the code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to detect, recognize, observe, and assess red-flag behaviors
  • Perform other related duties, which may be inclusive, but not listed in the job description.

  • Locations:

    The Role of a Behavior Technician:

    • Works 1:1 with children, teens, or young adults in their homes, schools, and communities
    • Take data on observes behaviors as trained by your supervisor
    • Implement protocols (e.g. Behavior Intervention Plans) to help reduce challenging behavior
    • Attend trainings and utilize ABA concepts

    Ability To:

    • Lift at least 20 pounds
    • Must be able to remain stationary position 50% of the time
    • Must have reliable transportation to and between clients home
    • Must be able to move about the child’s home, playground, or natural environment to engage in early intervention therapy
    • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g. Tablet)
    • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders to engage children in gross motor activities
    • Must be able to position self on the floor to engage with children during floor-time activities
    • The person in this position frequently communicates with parents and other educators who have inquires about early intervention therapy/techniques. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • Must be able to detect, recognize, observe, and assess red-flag behaviors
