In-Home ABA

The Inclusive Hearts’ team is trained in Skills Based Teaching (SBT), which is a trauma-informed, safety-focused approach to learning and behavior reduction. This approach focuses on ensuring a child remains Happy, Relaxed, and Engaged (HRE) throughout the teaching process. Inclusive Hearts believes wholeheartedly that children learn best when they are HRE! Therefore, we ensure that we spend extensive time learning what each child’s HRE means to them and how we can get them there.

A child’s HRE is everything that contributes to them being Happy, Relaxed, and Engaged. Imagine someone bringing you your favorite coffee order from your favorite coffee shop. Feel all those good feelings… Now, imagine that same person says you have to stand to drink the coffee, only have 1 minute to finish it, and they didn’t put whipped cream on it.

Do you still feel all the good feelings?

If this person was truly thinking about your HRE you would have your favorite coffee order with the whipped cream that you love, you’d be sitting in your favorite comfy chair, with your fuzzy socks, Encanto on the television, a fan in your face, and enough time to enjoy the coffee and finish it in a reasonable amount of time.

Our kids are no different! This is why Inclusive Hearts places emphasis on children’s ability to have all their favorite things without fear of removal or task demand. Children (and quite frankly, adults too!) learn best in an environment of relaxation and mutual respect.

School Consultation

Inclusive Hearts provides district-wide support to teachers and IEP teams, as well as to individual students. Our staff are able to assist 1:1 with students throughout the school day or during specific challenging times. When assigning 1:1 technicians to students in the school, Inclusive Hearts strives to provide training to the school staff, supervision of interventions, and advocacy for the students. Inclusive Hearts’ treatment team attends all school meetings and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings to ensure effective treatment. We also complete data collection and functional analysis in order  to consult on, or independently develop, behavior intervention plans and behaviorally based IEP goals.

We have shown great success with students struggling with challenging behaviors that are severe in nature. Our compassionate team of professions spend time delicately learning each student’s needs, personality, struggles, and successes. We spend time learning who each student is as an individual before we think about how to best support them. It is vitally important for us to be able to connect with a student, have fun together, and build a relationship founded on mutual respect and trust, prior to any and all interventions.

Community Outings

Sometimes, parents or guardians may avoid going out in the community due to apprehension about potential challenging situations. We think all families should be able to live their lives free of fear. Our team is committed to attending outings, appointments, and other community events with parents to provide support and an extra pair of hands and eyes. We want to keep our kids safe in the community, but at the same time teach independence and confidence through learning new skills.
